A TRADITION FOR THE PAST 17 YEARS!

In 2011, our YouthCon Scholarship was designed to promote critical thinking skills and offer our finalists an opportunity to role play via various scenarios.

The 2014 scholarship prompt reflected our emphasis on the oath of giving back which we uphold throughout our mission, "If you could make use of $500, what projects would you undertake to make improvements in your local neighborhood?"
2015
The 2015 YouthCon Scholarship aimed to empower students with their creativity. "If you had a magic wand, what single self improvement would you make to improve a situation that is difficult?"
2016
For our 2016 YouthCon Scholarship, we asked our students to write an essay aligning with the prompt as follows: "Our expectation is that schools should be a place where students have a comprehensive education to prepare for an enriched life; however, there are many core lessons that are not taught. Please identify an essential subject that you believe should be taught in schools today and why."
2018
In 2018, the scholarship was opened to all students attending high schools and colleges in the DMV. Its prompt: "If you could leverage $1000, what project(s) would you undertake to make improvements in your local neighborhood or community?"
2019
The 2019 YouthCon Scholarship motivated students to be agents of positive change in the community. We challenged students to carry out a project to work towards a solution in their local community with a budget of $200.
